Forestries of Mogilev region mean to sell 18,000 natural New Year trees, - Mogilev forestry union informs. This is a bit less than last year, as far as demand for natural firs is decreasing from year to year. “Many people prefer to buy artificial fir trees or some exotic conifers. At the same time we will be able to satisfy much greater demand in natural New Year trees”, - specialists assure. 200 trees have already been sold to regional enterprises.
The majority of trees will be felled on Catholic Christmas eve. The price for New Year trees has increased by 10% comparing with that of the previous year. Thus, one will have to pay about Br7,500 for a tree of under 1 m high, Br 9,500 - for a tree of 1 – 2.5 m, and Br 15,000 – for a tree of about 4 m. Natural pine trees will also be on the sale (usually pines make up 0.5% of sales).
The so-called “fir trees markets” start working from 20 December, 6 of them – in Mogilev, and 19 – in other towns and settlements of the region. 9000 trees are supposed to be sold. In Mogilev New Year trees will be sold at “Privokzalny”, “Ljubuzhski” mini-markets, and Vilenski and Mogilev markets.
