In 2012 bilateral trade of Mogilev and Omsk regions made 1.6 times’ increase to total $100 m. The information is provided by Petr Rudnik, the chairman of Mogilev regional executive committee at his meeting with the delegation from Omsk region (Russia).

According to the governor of Mogilev region, there is improvement but the real prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation are much wider. Bilateral trade and economic growth rates might be higher. There is a certain potential for this improvement including a number of investment projects. First of all, it is the project of creating import replacing carbon production in the Free Economic Zone “Mogilev” with Russian investments. One more project is to launch joint production of Bobruisk agriculture machinery in Omsk region (Russia).

In Petr Rudnik’s words, Mogilev region is open for mutual cooperation and is ready for any projects of Russian businessmen. The region has created favourable investment conditions and has got the corresponding infrastructure both in big cities and district towns where investors get substantial preferences. “So, we are ready to provide Russian businessmen with a plot of 100 hectares not far from Klimovichi to create any production enterprise. In Chausy district we suggest an investment project to construct a sugar mill. In return we are interested in delivering cement, agriculture machinery, food products to Omsk region. We are willing to share our experience in agritownships construction and modern agriculture production”.

The Economy Minister of Omsk region, deputy chairman Alexander Trippel says that the friendliness and hospitality of Belarusian people give serious grounds for future prospects of cooperation. “We are really interested in Belarusian experience in industrial and business development, creating favourable investment conditions. Though Omsk region’s GDP mostly consists of oil products the region is also developing other industries. So, we are interested in Belarusian agriculture machinery. Omsk region is also ready to create joint enterprises to promote new products to new markets.”
