By 2015 Mogilev region plans to launch 13 mini-plants producing fuel pellets made of straw. The information is provided by Tadeush Yurevich, the head of Mogilev Regional Office for Rational Fuel and Energy Consumption.
Last year such plants appeared in Bobruisk, Mstislavl and Dribin districts. The equipment was tested. But because of raw materials shortage the plants do not use their total capacities. Specialists hope that the situation will improve this year. The use of local fuel is economically profitable. At the moment the idea of attracting foreign partners is being worked out.
Imported fuel is becoming more and more expensive. Mini-plants producing straw fuel pellets are becoming a priority of Belarusian power industry.
