On July, 24, 2009, the Ministry of Communication and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus puts into use the “350th anniversary of Barkolabovskaya Icon of the Blessed Virgin” stamp, the correspondent of the site was told by deputy director of Mogilev branch of RUE “Belpochta” Galina Marchenko.
The stamp emission is prominent for Mogilev region due to several reasons. It is for the first time when Bykhov district is mentioned at posting. Secondly, Barkolabovskaya Icon of the Blessed Virgin is the first wonder-working Orthodox icon to be depicted at Belarusian postage stamp.
The stamp was designed by Alexander Blintsov.
Within the frameworks of celebrating 350th anniversary of Barkolabovskaya Icon of the Blessed Virgin a ceremony of stamp cancellation by a special stamp mark “The First Day” will be held at St. Trinity Cathedral of Bykhov. Bishop Seraphim of Bobruisk and Bykhov is to cancel the stamp. The ceremony will be visited by bishops of Mogilev and Mstislavl, Turov, Smolensk, as well as deputy Minister of Communication and Informatization Nina Gavrilova, and representatives of regional administration.
