About 27,000 ha of crops damaged in Mogilev region because of dry weather

As of 1 July, about 27,000 ha of crops and legumes damaged in Mogilev region because of dry weather, the source at the agriculture and food committee of Mogilev region executive committee told.

This year we have witnessed the driest weather conditions for the last 10 years' period, specialists say. Soil lacks moisture, that prevents plants from proper development. Thus, moisture in Klichev region's soil makes up 6 mm comparing to the norm of 40 mm. And the situation will likely to become much worse if it there is no rainfalls.

Some districts have started harvesting damaged crops for haylage. 6.7 thousand ha have already been gathered. This year about 336 thousand ha of crops and legumes is to be gathered (not taking into account farmlands).  

All agricultural organisations of the region are getting prepared harvesting machinery. So far, 74% of harvesters, 86% of grain cleaning plants, and 80% of other machinery have already been prepared.
