Today nursing homes for the elderly and disabled are the most wide spread type of social institutions where the elderly people are cared for, - labour, employment and social protection management department of Mogilev regional executive committee reports.
There are 9 nursing homes for the elderly and disabled in the region, including two of general-duty type and seven of asylum type. The largest of them is situated in Kamenka village of Bobruisk district. It may accept 360 patients at once. “We all hope for being cared by our close relatives, but there happen different situations in life, that’s why such hospitals are founded to help those in need”, - specialists stressed.
So far about 2,000 people of Mogilev region live in nursing homes, including 151 children. 27% are bed-patients.
