Andrei Pranevich and Vladimir Izotov from Belarus win gold medals at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro

Andrei Pranevich and Vladimir Izotov from Belarus have won gold medals at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Andrei Pranevich won a gold medal in the Wheelchair Fencing Men's Individual Epee - Category B. Andrei was stronger than Dimitry Kutiya from Britain (15:13) and Oleg Naumenko from Ukraine (15:8). In the finals Andrei Pranevich beat Iraq's Ali Ammar 15:14. The third place went to Ukraine's Oleg Naumenko. He saw off Yannick Ifebe from France 15:5.

Two Belarusian sports women entered the Wheelchair Fencing Women's Individual Epee top eight. Alesya Mokritskaya lost to Simone Briese-Baetke from Germany 9:15 who who took the fourth place in the event. Anastasia Kostyushkova lost to Zhou Jingjing from China 4:15.  Zhou Jingjing got gold in the finals.

Vladimir Izotov from Belarus won the SB12 Men's 100m breast-stroke event with a new Paralympic record of 1:06.82 seconds. Vladimir won bronze in Beijing in 2008 and silver in London in 2012. Dmitry Solei from Azerbaijan became second in SB12 Men's 100m breaststroke (1:08.80). A bronze medal went Dmitry Veraksa from Ukraine (1:09.00).

September 13 the captain of Belarus' Paralympic athletics team Anna Konyuk won the T12 Women's Long Jump and took the fifth place. Alexander Subota became the 11th in the F46 Men's Javelin Throwing.

The national Paralympic team got seven medals (five gold and two bronze ones). Belarus is currently the 13th in the 2016 Paralympic medal rating. China tops the rating with a total of 137 medals including 63 gold ones.
