Such a decision was made at the sitting of Mogilev executive committee while discussing practical implementation of the regional Programme of preventing disability, rehabilitating the impaired and creating a barrier-free environment for them during 2007 – 2010.

Much have already been done in Gorki; that’s why it is quite possible to implement all achievements and experience gained in this sphere and make the town an exemplary district centre where comfortable conditions for the physically impaired have been created, - Svetlana Tarasenko, the head of the labour, employment and social protection management department, thinks.

It is estimated that there are 50,500 disabled in Mogilev region, including 2,500 people with locomotor apparatus disorders, 2,400 visually impaired people, 1,300 auditory impaired people. Besides, more than 118,000 people (children under 6 and the elderly above 70 years old mainly) are on the list of physically impaired people.
The majority of activities planned have already been implemented; at the same time Klimovichi, Klichev, Mstislavl, Dribin districts didn’t fulfill the plan of providing establishments of social infrastructure with devices of barrier-free environment in 2007-2009. On the whole, 59.5% of establishments of social infrastructure have been provided with respective devices.

According to the chairman of the regional executive committee Peter Rudnick, a clear schedule of activities should be compiled by August 1, and additional sources of financing should be found.
