Belarus is planning to bring the annual output of canned fruit and vegetables to 450 million equivalent cans, chairman of the national food industry concern Belgospischeprom Ivan Danchebko reported.
In his words, in 2007 Belarus invested BYR 133 billion in the upgrading of the fruit and vegs procession industry. This year's investment is expected to total BYR 101 billion.
According to the source, there will be commissioned ten juice plants in Belarus, including one in Bykhov. In addition, there will open several frozen food factories.
Most of the aforecited facilities will be commissioned by the coming harvesting season, boosting the aggregate procession capacity of the national food industry 1.8-fold.
