Belarus will stop newsprint import as soon as the newsprint mill in Shklov is commissioned, says Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
As formerly reported by Interfax, the newsprint mill will annually make 40,000 tonnes of paper.
In future the production capacity of the mill may be expanded to 200,000 tonnes. The equipment worth $36.8 million was imported from Karelia. The estimated cost of the construction and assembly is $25 million.
The mill is expected to completely satisfy the domestic demand for newsprint.
