Belarus is planning to lodge a tender for the modernization of cement plants in late July or early August 2007, Minister of Construction and Architecture Alexander Seleznev told journalists.
The minister reminded, that the Belarusian Cement Plant (Kostyukovichi, Mogilev Region) and Krichevtsementnoschifer (Krichev, Mogilev Region) will go private in October.
According to the minister, several Russian companies and a foreign venture residing in Belarus are prepared to invest in modernisation.
Investment in the Belarusian cement industry are expected to reach $570 million by 2010, the minister informed. Investment projects include construction of another technological line at the BCP (with an annual capacity of 1.8 million tonnes of cement), construction of a clincker-making facility at Krichevtsementnoshifer, and construction of a cement plant in Brest Region.
According to Seleznev, modernisation will boost Belarus' cement exports to 4 million tonnes per year.
In accordance with the Belarusian cement industry development plan, in 2010 the country will produce 7.2 million tonnes of cement (against 3.7 million this year). In 2006 Belarusian cement plants made 3.5 million tonnes of cement, or 11.6% up on 2005.
