The Belarusian presidential election should be held before February 9, 2011, the chairman of the Belarusian Central Elections Commission, Lidiya Yermoshina, told an online conference on Monday.
"The Belarusian presidential election should be held before February 9, 2011. The election campaign will therefore begin in October- December, 2010," she said.
Yermoshina said she did not expect to resign.
I have been working intensively enough to retain this job. Do not hope that I shall be leaving soon, she said.
The term of the authorities of the chairman of the Central Elections Commission is five years, she said. Taking into account my appointment in 2007, the time for rest will not come before the winter of 2012, she said.
She said she positively viewed the work of the Central Elections Commission because the majority of voters have confidence in us.
As for the working relationship between herself and the Belarusian president, Both I and the president work within our authority and do not depend on each other, we depend on the law, Yermoshina said.
