Craftsmen from 5 countries to take part in the ceramics open air “Art-Zhyzhal” in Bobruisk district

Craftsmen from 5 countries are taking part in the XI International ceramics open air “Art-Zhyzhal” in Bobruisk district. A rest centre “Verbki” of JSC “FanDOK” has become a kind of a studio for them. The information is provided by Valery Koltygin, a manager of the open air and a chief of Bobruisk organization of the Belarusian Artists’ Association.

According to Valery Koltygin, over 20 decorative and applied craftsmen from Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Moldova and Russia have already started working. The open air welcomes both the recognized craftsmen and students of culture and arts education establishments representing Belarus and Ukraine. A representative from Bashkortostan is sure to create unusual and interesting works even though professional ceramics is not well developed there.

The theme of the open air is “Sculpture in interior”. Using various technologies ceramists will embody their creative ideas. Four kilns are at craftsmen’s disposal. Three of kilns were used before. The fourth one is new and it will be used to create fire sculptures. A figure of about 1.5 m tall will be modeled on a fire chamber. Then it will be wrapped in fireproof material. Flame and smoke will be coming from the top of the figure. The sculpture will look very spectacular especially at night.

The craftsmen should create two sculptures by August, 5. One of the sculptures of each craftsman will be taken to the Bobruisk Arts Museum named after G. Poplavsky. A second one will decorate a foyer of town library №16.

A traditional final exposition of the forum will take place in an exhibition hall of the Bobruisk Arts Museum named after G. Poplavsky on August, 6. Then the exposition will go to Mogilev and Minsk.
