On May, 5th Mogilev region opened the XIV International art pleinair “The Image of Motherland in Art”. It is devoted to the 95th birthday anniversary of Pavel Maslennikov, the honored artist of the Republic of Belarus. The festival also celebrates the 65th anniversary of Belarus liberation from Fascist invaders.
According to Valery Malashko, the deputy head of Mogilev Region Administration, irrespective of financial difficulties the festival gathered participants from 9 countries: Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Serbia, Poland, Armenia, Moldova, Crna Gora (Montenegro) and Belarus. “We are sure that the XIV International art pleinair will be of great success because the program of the festival is interesting. The artists will work at the most picturesque places of Bobruisk, Osipovichi and Kirovsk districts,”- Valery Malashko told.
Svetlana Strogina, the deputy director of Mogilev Art Museum named after Pavel Maslennikov says that over the years participants of the pleinair created about 1000 works kept in the museum. “It is very difficult to create huge works within a month. But the pleinair represents an international circle of artists. And as a result the collection we have is of Slavonic and West-European origin. Artists from different countries show their individual style of painting, the image of their country, their traditions. We do our best to invite the artists that are very popular in their countries”.
