A foreign company called Staraya Krepost is planning to open a juice plant in Belarus, member of the company's board Yevgeni Kashper told a news conference in Bobruisk.
In his words, that is going to be the largest juice plant in Belarus that will satisfy 70% of the domestic demand.
Part of the plant's output will be exported (initially to Russia and Kazakhstan).
Staraya Krepost invested $20 million in the project. The juice plant will be fitted with Tetra Pack equipment with an annual capacity of 70 million litres.
This year the plant is expected to produce 11 million litres of juice under two brands (medium-class Sochny and premium-class Prigat).
The technology and raw stuff fir the latter will be imported from Israeli Prigat - one of the largest juice producers in Israel, Eastern Europe and Africa.
The new juice plant will also import raw stuff from Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Israel, etc.
One litre of Sochny juice will cost BYR 2,700, while one litre of Pregat will be sold for BYR 3,200.
According to the source, the strategic aim of the company is to become No.1 juice-maker in Belarus and triple the output of juices in 5-year time. By December 2008, the company is planning to win 18% of the Belarusian juice market.
