It's strange to see this unusual thing on a uniform coat of one of the famous Belarusian partizans, the head of Osipovichi military operations group, the Hero of the Soviet Union, major general Nikolai Korolev.
But children found a modern flicker on the coat, as far as they had already solved such tasks set by museum workers. And this is not the only novelty that museum workers suggest to their visitors; they use plenty of other forms and methods, including talks, performing rituals, theatrical shows, etc. Spirituality is put at the heart of all of them. It's in the centre of the project "Spiritual Meetings" being a part of Christmas charity ball.
The museum has really unique artefacts dealing with the history of Osipovichi district. For example, the copy of the Varangian's sword of the X-XIth cc. made on the basis of the ancient artefact found in the district, models of the ancient Svisloch castle, unusual household items dating back to the XIX-XXth cc., etc. We can't but mention china ware produced by the Kornilovs factory famous if the Russian Empire, special military clothing dating back to the Great Patriotic War.
The special atmosphere of Osipovichi Museum of Local History attract both adults and young visitors. And it not the matter of tradition. The museum got its building just three years ago, and Antonina Stepanova became its director.
"The credit should be paid to the staff", Antonina Frantsevna told. "The staff interested in its work and passionate about it. For example, senior research fellow Maria Sergeevna Sakantseva, Master in History, specializing in museology. Her sister Ekaterina is the major curator of the holdings of the museum. Besides, she designed the interior.
We organized an expedition over the region, as far as there were not enough exhibits for a new exposition. Thus, the hall of ethnography and marriage appear. Local and and Minsk historians, as well as private collectors took part in gathering exhibits. Then we opened two more halls - those of archaeology and the Great Patriotic War. Local collector Alexander Alexeenko granted pieces of ammunition and accoutrements dating back to the Great Patriotic War for bonded storage.
A great number of exhibits was presented by offsprings of the ancient noble family Daragan now living in Sweden.
By the way, the railway built in Osipovichi at the end of the XIXth c. was initiated by Osip Daragan. Representatives of the family made great contribution to teaching and treating local population.
The collection presented by the Daragans now makes up a separate exposition in the Museum of the Local History. The exposition houses in five halls in a separate building that was opened in 2015.
Now museum specialists are working at a number of new projects.
