Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) unitary enterprise is planning to carry out a comprehensive upgrading program that will involve modernisation of its production facilities and administration improvement, Interfax learnt from Director General Nikolai Kosten.
In particular, the enterprise is going to invest BYR 150 billion in re-equipment and reconstruction of its production facilities.
The program also stipulates reconstruction of the plant's Mogilev-based branch Mogilevtransmash, the source reported.
Minsk Automobile Plant, the largest producer of automobiles in Belarus and Eastern Europe, manufactures over 300 models of automobiles, over 30 models of trailers, over 50 models of buses and trolley buses.
In H1 2007 the plant produced 11,341 automobiles, or 11.4% up on the year. the output of trailers and semitrailers rose by 0.4%, automobile cranes - 34.7%, buses and trolley-buses - 8%. In monetary terms, the plant's output grew 16.6% to reach BYR 1.4 trillion.
