Mogilev Region has seen meat and poultry sales grow by 10.5% in live weight terms in January-May 2008 to reach 45.7 thousand tonnes, Interfax has learnt from the regional authority on agriculture and foods.
Livestock sales have grown by 10%, poultry 15%, pork 7.7%, the officials informed.
Also, Mogilev Region farms produced 254.7 thousand tonnes of milk (10.5% up) and 106.6 million eggs (2.2% up).
Milk sales totaled 210,700 tonnes (82.7% of the total yield). The average milk yield per cow made 1,846 kilos (10% up).
Besides, local farms produced 2,700 tonnes of vegetables (4.3% down).
Agribusiness enterprises of Mogilev Region earned a 9.1% higher net profit in January-May 2008 than in January-May 2007.
Their net profit totaled BYR 51.2 billion (28.8% up). At the same time, one agricultural enterprise ended the period with a net loss of BYR 42 million.
The return on sales in January-May 2008 made 7.6%.
