Mogilevkhimvolokno is about to commission a new production facility with an annual capacity of 80,000 tonnes of polymers, Vice Director General Sergey Khramtsov told Interfax.
In his words, the facility will enable the company to cut production costs by 15%.
The German installation will be there to produce a well-selling commodity granular polyester.
Mogilevkhimvolokno is one of Europe’s leading producers of polyester fibres and threads and the only manufacturer of polyethylene terephthalate in the CIS. It was established in 1968 and transformed into a joint-stock company in 2002.
99.95% of the equity capital belongs to state. The company employs about 13,000 people.
In January-August 2007 the company produced BYR 418.3 billion worth of goods, or 11.6% up on the year. Consumer goods output grew 5.3% to BYR 11.3 billion. Over the stated period the company exported $132 million worth of goods (33% up).
