The construction of a new city hall building in Mogilev's Sovetskaya square will be completed by may 2008, Interfax learnt from the administration of the city.
As formerly reported by Interfax, Mogilev Council of Deputies voted in favor of the construction of a new city hall building in August. The estimated cost of the project is BYR 4.5 billion. The project is carried out by Promzhilstroi OJSC.
According to the source, the basement and the first floor of the building will be completed this year. The front of the building will be decorated with a clock.
The city hall will be erected exactly where it had been located since 1692. The building was severely damaged during WWII and ruined in 1957. The construction of a new city hall was blessed by archbishop of Mogilev and Mstislavl Maxim in 1992.
