Mogilev Council of Deputies has voted in favor of the construction of a new city hall building in Sovetskaya square.
The city administration has already lodged a construction tender. The estimated cost of the project is BYR 4.5 billion.
According to the mayor, the basement and the first floor of the 37-metre-high building will be completed this year. The front of the building will be decorated with a clock. The city hall is expected to be commissioned on June 20, 2008.
The city hall will be erected exactly where it had been located since 1692. The building was severely damaged during WWII and ruined in 1957. The construction of a new city hall was blessed by archbishop of Mogilev and Mstislavl Maxim in 1992.
