Resident companies of Mogilev Free Economic Area increased exports by 25.7% on the year in January-June 2008 to a total of $145.9 million, Interfax learnt from the regional economy committee.
63.1% ($92.1 million in value terms) of the exports went to the Russian Federation.
The FEA also shipped minor consignments of goods to Germany (10%), Denmark, Ukraine and the Baltic States (7.6%).
The bulk of exports was polyethylene terephtalate (29.7%), synthetic fibre (25.4%), synthetic threads (14.1%).
The bulk of commodities imported by resident companies originate from Russia (74.8% of all imports) – alcohol and petroleum products.
n H1 2008 the FEA produced BYR 486.8 billion worth of goods, or 37% up on the year.
Sales totaled BYR 518.5 billion, and the return on sales reached 19.9%.
The FEA residents paid BYR 31.1 billion in taxes to the regional budget.
Mogilev FEA was set up in January 2002. Currently it has 15 resident companies with a total personnel of 759 persons.
