The Belarusian judo championship dedicated to the memory of Afghan war veteran Andrei Melnikov will start place in Mogilev on Mart 22 spanning seven days, Interfax learnt from the department of physical culture, sport and tourism of the regional administration.
Young athletes (aged 15-18) from Belarus, Russian Ukraine and Moldova are expected to take part in the championship, the source reported.
The championship will serve as a primary stage of the European judo competition.
Winners will receive medals, cups, diplomas and prizes.
The championship is organised by the Belarusian Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the department of physical culture, sport and tourism of Mogilev Region Administration.
