Chairman of Mogilev Region Council of Deputies Vladimir Pantyukhov and Chairman of the House of Assembly of Russia's Nizhni Novgorod Viktor Lunin signed a co-operation agreement, an Interfax reporter informs.
The agreement is expected to enhance co-operation between businesses and industrial enterprises of the two countries, the source specified.
According to the Foreign Trade Department of Mogilev Region Administration, in 2007 the trade turnover between Mogilev Region and Nizhni Novgorod Region totaled $54.1 million (51.5% up on the year). Mogilev Region's exports rose 3.2-fold to reach $34.9 million, while imports shrank by 22.9% to $19.2 million.
In January-February 2008 Mogilev Region exported $7.2 million worth of goods to Nizhni Novgorod Region, or 4.5 times up on the year. Imports rose by 66.9% to $3.2 million.
Most of the exports fell on tyres, chemical threads and fibres, plastic, pumps, while imports mainly consist of ferrous metals, polymer materials, furniture, paper, fats and vegetable oils.
