Mogilev Region enterprises increased the value of commodity exports by 23.3% in 2007 in comparison with this time last year to a total of $1,575 million, an official with the Foreign Trade Department of Mogilev Region Administration told Interfax.
Imports rose by 18.7% to reach $1,226.3 million. The region ended the period with a trade surplus of $349.2 million against $244.6 million in 2007.
The yearly export growth target was 17.4%, while import was expected to rise by 8.2%-9.2%, the source reminded.
The total volume of trade of Mogilev Region in 2007 made $2,801.8 million, or 21.3% up on the year. Last year the region traded with 121 countries, the source reported.
Over the period in question the region exported $24.7 million worth of services, or 23.4% up on the year. The surplus in foreign trade in services made $13.6 million in January-December 2007, the source informed.
