Mogilev Region Government Boris Batura has met with 40 women residing in the region to congratulate them on the Mother’s Day, marked on October 14. Those were step mothers, mothers with many children and mothers whose sons perished in Afghanistan.
The governor thanked the women for having raised honourable citizens of Belarus.
According to the governor, the local authorities are doing everything in their power to make life easier for mothers. In particular, they gradually improve the living conditions of families with many children and low-wage families.
Five women who raised five and more kids were decorated with the Mother’s Order. All participants in the meeting received presents and flowers.
The Labour and Social Security Committee of the regional administration told Interfax, the meeting was held within the framework of the Mother’s Week that took place October 10-16.
During the week, there were organised multiple meetings, conferences, workshops, free medical consultations for mothers and children. Personnel of welfare services visited female WWII veterans, the source added.
