Novaya Drut OJSC based in Belynichi District (Mogilev Region) is planning to complete the construction of a starch-making plant in 2008, a company representative told Interfax.
According to the source, the would-be plant will use potatoes as raw stuff. The enterprise will be fitted with Chinese equipment.
The plant is expected to annually produce 2.2 - 2.8 thousand tonnes of starch out of 12-14 thousand tonnes of potatoes. The daily processing capacity of the enterprise will be 100 tonnes of potatoes, the source reported.
The project is funded by Novaya Drut and the National Bank of Belarus. So far the company has invested BYR 10.6 billion in the project, the source added.
Novaya Drut OJSC produces meat and dairy products. In 2007 the company made BYR 8 billion worth of goods, or 50% up on the year.
