Mogilev region cuts water consumption

Over the last 10 years Mogilev region reduced nature water recourses diversion by 16% (1996 – 209 mln cubic metres, 2007 – 175,8 mln cubic metres). Underground water intake reduced by 28% (1996 – 156 mln cubic metres, 2008 —113 mln cubic metres). The correspondent of the site learnt about it from the Mogilev Region Committee for Nature Resources and Environmental Protection.

On march, 22 the planet celebrates the World Water Day. It has officially been celebrated since 1993.

Both Mogilev region and the republic are supplied with underground waters due to Belarus’ geographical location. Drinking waters are taken only from artesian flows. By their quality they exceed surface waters. Underground waters make 2,28 cubic kilometers a year.
