Mogilev Region and Moldovan region Gagauzia signed a co-operation protocol on Thursday, an Interfax reporter informs.
According to Vice Governor Viktor Kravtsov, who signed the protocol on behalf of Mogilev Region, the two regions are planning to considerably expand trade turnover.
Mogilev Region accounts for 15.4% of Gagauzia’s trade turnover, while the share of Moldova as a whole in the foreign trade turnover of Mogilev Region is only 0.6%.
In addition, the parties are going to set up joint trade companies and vineyards.
In 2007 the trade turnover between Mogilev Region and Moldova totaled $11.4 million, or 41% up on the year.
Mogilev Region exports to Moldova fiberboards, tyres, plastic, elevators, pumps, agricultural machinery, textiles and footwear.
The region imports from Moldova fruits, vegetables and pharmaceuticals.
