Mogilev Region Governor Boris Batura has urged agencies concerned to push fixed capital investment figures in Mogilev to Belarus’ average level.
In his words, although Mogilev has been doing a good job drawing vast investment for economic development, Mogilev lags back behind other regions of Belarus.
The governor has urged local industries to put more effort in upgrading production facilities.
According to Batura, only 44% of Mogilev’s industries are engaged in investment activities.
Mogilev has been faced with a challenge to draw a total of $110 million in domestic and foreign investments in 2008, including $77 million in direct foreign investments (last year the figure reached the point of $66 million).
This year Mogilev is expected to implement 5 prominent investment projects worth BYR 44.5 million in Slavgorod, Bykhov, Bobruisk and Belynichi.
