Mogilev region holds “Belaya Romashka” prophylactics action dedicated to World TB Day

Prophylactics action “Belaya Romashka” (“white chamomile”) is held on March 24, within the frameworks of World TB Day, - the correspondent of the site was told by the head of regional organisation of Belarusian Red Cross Society Andrei Nikitin.

Information booths and different quiz shows are organised in Mogilev, Bobruisk, Gorky, Krichev, Kirov, Bykhov, Glussk, Mogilev districts.

Mobile fluoroscope is placed near “Rodina” cinema in Mogilev, and everyone after showing passport is welcomed to have fluorography checkup and get information about tuberculosis. “Rodina” cinema also presents social- prophylactic film about TB “Travelling” and a thriller “The Journey”, “Ask the Dust.”

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease influenced by social, economic, demographic factors, and needs constant government’s and society’s monitoring and attention. World TB Day 2010 aims at educating population about the disease itself, its prophylactics, popularizing healthy way of life among children and the youth, and calling for medical attention to the matter. On March 22, the Centre of medical information holds press-conference on TB prophylactics.

According to the head of epidemiology department of Mogilev regional hygiene, epidemiology, and public catering Alexander Ponyatov, TB prophylactics is of great importance, for TB disease rate increased by 10% last year.

24.6% of all TB-infected are unemployed, 23% are alcohol addicted. If a person is subject to both factors, he / she is more likely to become TB-infected.

“Prevention is better then cure, that’s why special attention is to be paid to TB-infection prophylactics”, - Anatoly Chernyavsky stressed.
