A one-day information campaign on food safety and social and economic development of the area is being held in Mogilev Region, Interfax learnt from the ideology department of the regional administration.
According to the regional committee for agriculture and foodstuffs, Mogilev Region's agribusiness shows a stable development and makes an immense contribution to Belarus' food safety.
In addition to improvement of living standards in rural areas, particular emphasis is placed on the further development of agricultural technologies and enlargement of production volumes, the source reported.
According to the source, no unprofitable farms have been registered in Mogilev Region over the past two years.
In 2006 Mogilev Region's agricultural enterprises gained a net profit of BYR 104.3 billion. Five unprofitable farms were sold to commercial companies, and the remaining 76 non-viable farms merged with profitable enterprises and organisations.
A hefty investment of BYR 337 billion enabled the re-organised farms to boost their output by 32.8% in 2006, the source reported.
In the past two years all farms in Mogilev Region managed to achieve their production targets, the source added.
