Mogilev Region is planning to invest around BYR 10.1 billion in the development of science and technology in 2007-2010, Interfax learnt from the economy committee of the regional administration.
BYR 4.6 billion will come from the state budget, and the rest will be allotted by local sources.
27.6% of the funding will be spent on high-tech goods relying on locally available resources, 39.8% will be invested in technology development, 20% - in environment friendly and energy saving equipment, 12.6% - in the improvement of labor and living conditions.
Most of the new high-tech products that will be launched within the framework of the program belong to mechanical engineering and machine-working (49%), with smaller shares belonging to chemical industry (10%), food industry (17%), agriculture (8%), health care and social sector (10%).
The program stipulates at least one new enterprise, 20 new technologies, 10 new kinds of goods and 30 jobs. New products and technologies are expected to earn the region at least BYR 18.4 billion (export oriented goods - 30%, or $2.5 million).
The payback period of the program is four to five years.
