Mogilev Region invested over BYR 10 billion in the upgrading of the consumer service system in small towns in January-October 2007, Interfax learnt from the Economy Committee of the regional administration.
There opened 12 consumer service centres. The range of services was expanded, too, the source reported.
The regional small town development program also encourages the development of private business, the source informed. Currently there are 490 private companies and over six thousand sole traders in the region, including 38 joint ventures and three foreign companies.
There opened 17 stores and nine public catering outlets in the region's small towns this year. The number of businesses rose by 11.7% to reach 1,852.
