Mogilev Region invested BYR 3.2 trillion in the rural revival program in 2005-2006, which exceeds the target by 17.3%, head of the regional committee for agriculture and foodstuffs Valery Litvinov told the regional Council of Deputies.
Over the period in question, 79 villages in Mogilev Region received a new status. 37 more rural settlements will turn into modern agricultural complexes this year, the source reported.
In 2005-2006 23 dairy farms and 79 engine yards were restored and modernised in Mogilev Region.
2,600 dwelling houses and apartments were commissioned in rural areas over the period in question, including 500 in agricultural complexes.
In addition, local utility agencies repaired 22.5 km of heat supply networks, 36.1 km of water supply networks, 129 drinking water wells and a large number of roads. In addition, they provided 3,700 dwelling houses with regular gas supplies.
There opened 65 new public service centers and 543 social service centers in Mogilev Region's rural areas, the source reported.
The region's transport agencies replenished their fleet with 178 buses.
According to Litvinov, in 2005-2006 Mogilev Region's agricultural organisations increased their output by 12.6%. No non-viable farms were registered in the region in the past two years.
The personnel of local agricultural organisations was replenished with 583 university graduates in 2005-2006, which brought the share of people with higher education in the region's agribusiness sector to 11%.
