Retail trade turnover in rural areas of Mogilev Region totalled BYR 199.4 billion in January-July 2007, which is 12.9% up on the year, Interfax learnt from the department of trade, public catering and consumer services of Mogilev Region Administration.
The overall retail trade turnover of Mogilev Region grew 14.3% on the year to reach BYR 2.078 trillion.
The value of foodstuffs sold made BYR 1,170 billion, non-foods - BYR 908.4 billion, which is 9.5% and 21% up against 2006 respectively.
Public catering companies sold BYR 86.3 billion worth of goods in January-July 2007 (13.5% up).
As far as foods are concerned, meat and poultry sales in Mogilev Region expanded by 7.7%, cheese - 18.6%, vegetable oil - 17.1%, canned fish - 18.1%, juices - 35.6%.
As for non-foods, Mogilev Region saw an increase in sales of footwear - 18.7%, detergents - 15%, refrigerators and freezers - 12.1%, knitwear - 35.4%, washing machines - 15.1%, construction materials - 43.5%.
As of August 1, 2007 the stocks of ready-made goods stood at BYR 229.5 billion, which ensures 38 days of trade, the specialists specified.
