The telephone switchboard capacity in Mogilev Region expanded by 3,411 numbers in H1 2008, Interfax-West has learnt from the regional administration's department for transport and communications.
Town-based automatic telephone exchange stations saw their capacity rising by 1,736 numbers, while in rural areas the rise made 1,675 numbers.
The switchboard capacity in Mogilev rose by 1,280 numbers, and in the town of Klimovichi - by 456 numbers, the source added.
In January-June the region doubled broadband Internet access capacity (7,460 ports in total).
Fixed-line phones were installed in three small villages of Mogilev Region where telephone communication had been unavailable until recently (42.9% of the yearly target).
