The net profit of Mogilev Region transport companies rose two-fold on the year in January-September 2007 to BYR 15.7 billion, Interfax learnt from the Department of Transport and Communications of the regional administration.
However, four transport companies based in Mogilev Region ended the period with a net loss of BYR 1,029 million.
The return on services of transport companies rose by 1.7 percentage points on the year to make 9.3%.
In January-October 2007 Mogilev Region automobile transport handled 5,864,700 tonnes of cargoes, or 6% up on the year. Rail freightage totaled 37,697,500 tonnes (1.9% down).
The rate of transportation of passengers by bus grew 0.9% (121.6 million passengers, including 32.6 million transported by private carriers).
