The profit of transport companies based in Mogilev Region grew 32.1% on the year in January-September 2008 to reach BYR 20.4 billion, Interfax-West learnt from the Transport and Communications Department of Mogilev Region Administration.
The return on services totalled 11.5%, the officials informed.
At the same time, 6 companies (5.3%) ended the period with a net loss of BYR 0.7 billion.
In January-September 2008 transport companies of Mogilev Region shipped almost 43.8 million tones of cargoes, 6% up on the year. That includes railway deliveries - 37.3 million tonnes (5.1% up), motorway transport - 6.5 million tonnes (11.6% up).
Passenger transportation stands at 134.6 million, 80.4% compared to last year's figures.
The share of private carriers in bus transportation made 16.2% in January-September, the source specified.
The rate of transportation of passengers by bus shrank by 15.7% (102.5 million passengers).
