The profit of transport companies based in Mogilev Region grew 36.9% on the year in January-November 2008 to reach BYR 21 billion, Interfax-West learnt from the Transport and Communications Department of Mogilev Region Administration.
According to the source, six transport companies ended the period with an aggregate net loss of BYR 1.1 billion.
The share of private carriers in bus transportation made 16.2% in January-November, the source added.
The rate of transportation of passengers by bus shrank by 15.7% (113 million passengers). The attribute the drop in passenger traffic to scrapping preferences for students and old-age persons.
In January-November 2008 transport companies of Mogilev Region shipped almost 48,089 thousand tones of cargoes, 6.3% up on the year.
