The unemployment rate in Mogilev Region fell by 0.5 percentage points since early this year to reach 1.4% as of May 1 2007, the regional employment service told Interfax.
As of late April 2007, the number of the unemployed stood at 6,800 people, specified the source. 67.7% of the unemployed are women.
There were 1.3 unemployed persons per one vacancy registered with the state employment agencies (2.7 as of late April 2006). 76.8% of vacancies were manual labour jobs.
In the meantime, in January-April 2007 state employment agencies assisted 3.8 thousand people in finding a job.
The state employment agency of Mogilev said there is a disparity in the supply and demand on the employment market.
In January-April 2007 there were 5.1 unemployed citizens receiving the dole in Mogilev Region. The total value of funds dispersed on dole repayment stands at BYR 240.5 million, the average dole in standing at BYR 47.4 thousand, which makes 26.5% of the subsistence budget.
The largest part of the unemployed are people, who have been without a job for a long time, young people with no working experience, women with children and physically challenged people.
The highest rate of unemployment was registered in Krasnopolye (3.2%) and Kostyukovichi (2.3%).
