Retail trade turnover in Mogilev Region totalled BYR 800.7 billion in January-March 2007, which is 18.7% up on the year, Interfax learnt from the department of trade, public catering and consumer services of Mogilev Region Administration.
The value of foodstuffs sold made BYR 449 billion, non-foods - BYR 351.6 billion, which is 11.3% and 29.4% up against 2006 respectively.
Public catering companies sold BYR 35 billion worth of goods in Q1 2007 (12.4% up).
As far as foods are concerned, meat and poultry sales in Mogilev Region expanded by 9.5%, cheese - 14%, vegetable oil - 19.7%, confectionery - 13%, soft drinks - 17.7%, canned fish - 18.4%, juices - 44%.
As for non-foods, Mogilev Region saw an increase in sales of footwear - 41%, detergents - 26%, refrigerators and freezers - 12.5%, bicycles and motorbikes - 68.6%, - 35.8%, knitwear - 37%.
As of April 1, 2007 the stocks of ready-made goods stood at BYR 212 billion, which ensures 39 days of trade, the specialists specified.
