Mogilev Regional Executive Committee prepares a decree forbidding selling alcohol at night time. But even now the shops that work at night time don’t sell strong drinks. The information is provided by Oleg Shershnev, the first deputy chief of the Trade and Services Office.
The purpose of the decision is to reduce alcoholization of population and to develop a culture of strong drinks consumption.
In Mogilev region 67 shops work at night time. In 4 districts of the region there are no “night shops” at all. 8 “night shops” do not sell alcohol.
According to Oleg Shershnev, since abolishing the trade of low alcoholic drinks and beer at the bus stops (the decree by Mogilev Regional Executive Committee from May,14 2009) the trade of these drinks at state-run shops has increased by 30%. Strong drinks consumption became more civilized, 60 halls for the purpose appeared.
The head of Mogilev Regional Administration Petr Rudnik points out the fact that Mogilev Regional Executive Committee is not the only body to prepare such a decree. September, 1 Moscow authorities forbade 15% outlets to sell alcohol from 10 pm till 10 am.
