The largest consumers of natural gas in Mogilev Region, Krichevtsementnoshifer and Belarus Cement Plant, count on being able to ensure stable operation in the event of a decrease in gas supplies, Krichevtsementnoshifer’s Vice Director General Alexander Mitin and Belarus Cement Plant’s Chief Power Engineer Igor Lozhechnikov told Interfax.
Krichevtsementnoshifer burns on a daily basis some 500,000 m3 of natural gas to producer clinker.
Cement and roofing materials are an import construction materials and a major export commodity, so it is unlikely that the plant will face gas supply cuts, even if Russia reduced gas deliveries to Belarus.
Krichevtsementnoshifer produced around 555,000 tonnes of cement and almost 36 million equivalent roofing slates in H1.
Belarus Cement Plant produced over 438 thousand tonnes of cement and over 71 thousand tonnes of lime.
Both companies are currently engaged in large-scale produciton upgrade, with new furnaces being installed.
