Vegetable production in Mogilev Region's hothouses has grown by 29.9% in January-June to reach a mind-blowing 4.8 thousand tonnes, Interfax has learnt from the region's agribusiness committee.
It's worth mentioning that hothouse-based vegetable production in Bobruisk expanded by 23%, Kirovsk - 51%, Mogilev - 34%.
Cucumber production expanded by 17.6%, tomatoes - 39.2%, peppers - 35-fold, eggplants - 18.8%, green stuffs - 65% down.
Overall, Mogilev Region's agribusiness production grew 6.8% in January-June 2007 against a 4.5% forecast.
According to the source, in January-June Mogilev Region farms raised and sold 57.5 thousand tons of cattle and poultry (6.7% up on the year) and produced 125.1 million eggs (4.4% up), 292.2 thousand tons of milk (8.3% up).
The average milk yield per cow is 2,129 kg.
