Vegetable production in Mogilev Region’s hothouses has grown by 31.9% in January-May to reach a mind-blowing 2.8 thousand tonnes, Interfax has learnt from the region’s agribusiness committee.
It’s worth mentioning that hothouse-based vegetable production in Bobruisk expanded by 36.3%, Kirovsk 58%, Mogilev 3.3%.
Cucumber production expanded by 16.3%, tomatoes – 49.5%, green stuffs – 53% down.
Overall, Mogilev Region’s agribusiness production grew 8.5% in January-June 2006 against a 4.5% forecast.
According to the source, in January-May Mogilev Region farms raised and sold 41.3 thousand tons of cattle and poultry (5.5% up on the year) and produced 104.3 million eggs (1.7% up), 186.8 thousand tons of milk (10.5% up).
The average milk yield per cow is 1,679 kg (12.1% up), while sales reached 230.4 thousand tons.
