The share of passenger transportation performed by private entrepreneurs in Mogilev Region in January-May 2007 has expanded by 2.2 percentage points to make 21% of the total number of passengers commuting by bus.
Interfax has learnt the fact from the Region Administration’s Economy Committee.
Over the five-month period, private entrepreneurs transported 16.5 million people to see passenger turnover make 96.8 million passenger-per-kilometre, which makes 20.7% of the automobile passenger turnover in the region.
Bus transportation services were made available to over 62.2 million passengers. And those were offered by the MOT-run buses alone, which 8.8% up against last year.
In January-May they transported 2.268 million tonnes of cargoes, 1.8% down on the year. That includes cargoes transported by railway – 1.797 million tonnes (19.6% up).
They also informed, in January-May 2007 the net profit from passenger and cargo transportation services expanded ninefold to reach BYR 6,616 million. At the same time, 13 companies (11.4% of the total number) ended the year with a net loss of BYR 1,038 million.
