9,039 people were introduced into election committees formed in the region in connection with elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the fifth convocation. The information is provided by the district electoral committees.
At a stated time local executive committees considered applications, and divisional election committees were formed. Delegates to be included into election committees had to be nominated by political parties, public associations, labour collectives, and citizens by August, 5. Each committee consists of 5-19 representatives.
Public associationse (trade unions, “Belaya Rus”, BRSM, the Belarusian Women’s Union, veterans were the most active in nominating delegates. What concerns political parties, representatives of the Republican Labour and Justice Party, the Communist Party of Belarus predominate in committees.
Finally, divisional election committees consist of 3,882 citizens’ representatives, 1,550 labour collectives’ representatives, 3,607 representatives of public associations, including 87 delegates from political parties. 9.6% of committees’ members are under 30 years old, 75.1% are female. Civil servants make up 3.9%.
