Moscow Region would like to establish closer relations with Belarus, Vice Chairman of the government of Moscow Region Vasily Gromov told reporters after a meeting with Mogilev Region Governor Boris Batura.
In his words, Belarusian goods enjoy a great demand in Moscow Region. Gromov believes, Belarus should export more construction materials, in particular, cement, to the Russian region.
Moscow Region is Belarus' second largest trade partner in Russia.
In January-July 2007 the trade turnover between Belarus and Moscow Region reached $1,010.8 million, or 37.5% up on the year. Belarusian export to Moscow Region grew 42.8%, while import increased by 29.7%.
Most of exports fell on ferrous metals, polymers, plastic, dairy goods, furniture. Imports consisted of polymers, electric appliances, foodstuffs and chemicals.
