Mogilev region makes an important contribution to maintaining alertness of the country - Peter Rudnick, the chairman of Mogilev regional executive committee, notified today at the meeting on the Defenders and the Armed Forces Day held at Buinichi Field.
Among the participants of the meeting are the chairmen of Mogilev regional and city executive committees, representative delegations from city enterprises, war and armed forces veterans, public and youth organizations.
According to P. Rudnick, during the period of independence the Republic of Belarus has created mobile, well-equipped and trained Armed Forces able to resist any aggressor. Mogilev region disposes more than ten different military units – he specified.
The chairman also laid a wreath by the chapel commemorating Mogilev defenders at Buinichi Field, and took part in the solemn ceremony of re-burial of two unknown soldiers, who had died in July, 1941 while defending Mogilev from German-fascist invaders.
